During this section, we have covered two different types of briefing. Although they differ, they should both adhere to general briefing guidelines. Firstly, ensure your briefings are concise and straight to the point. Divers are there to have fun, so your briefing should be engaging but short. Secondly, keep a positive tone throughout the briefing, even when discussing emergency procedures. You can phrase them in a positive light by avoiding negative phrases such as "when you run out of air" and emphasizing that it is unlikely to happen. Take inspiration from airlines, who use words like "in the unlikely event" during their safety briefings.
